My friend Matt was in the city on Wednesday so I had a swell time hanging out with him, his friend Nicole, and George. Nicole took us to a restaurant called Old Devil Moon, a southern BBQ-type eatery which had a whole section of vegetarian BBQ stuff, which was great. I recommend the hot buffalo-style tofu fingers with a pitcher of beer. Nicole pointed out that Old Devil Moon is also home to Masterbakers, a bakery that makes uh, "naughty" cakes shaped like genitals. The waitress let us see a giant penis-shaped cake that was in a box on the table next to us. It actually looked really good.
Last night I saw Burn This,a play starring Edward Norton and Catherine Keener. Edward Norton was AMAZING. He playes this coked-up Jersey guy trying to come to terms with his brother's accidental death, so he pays a visit to his brother's roommate (Catherine Keener). Catherine Keener wasn't so great, but it is still in previews so maybe she hasn't gotten her groove yet. The lighting was gorgeous; the whole back of the stage was giant loft-sized windows, so it was always changing from dusk to dawn to daylight in all these really beautiful shades of purple and blue and red. At one point it starts to snow and it was so pretty.
Outside the theatre after the play we saw Kristin Davis walk by, all dressed up, with some handsome man.
