Wendy and I saw The Tindersticks last night at St. Ann's Warehouse. They were so good; the string orchestra was beautiful. They sounded just like they do recorded. Of course we were stuck near meatheads. The guy next to me was playing air drums throughout the whole show, one guy behind us was drunk and obnoxious, and another guy behind us shouted out "Rock and Roll!" between songs. If there was ever a show I didn't think any of this would happen at it's Tindersticks. They played "Tiny Tears," "She's Gone," "Trouble Every Day," "Talk to Me" and a bunch of new songs that I don't know. I was surprised at how many people where there. The place was packed, and it was a pretty big space.
Apparently it was the tail-end of the DUMBO Art Under the Bridge festival, which explained the videoscreen and weird music set up on some little cobble-stone sidestreet, and the fiddle band playing in a garage that we saw after the show. I guess a lot of the artists that used to live in DUMBO have been kicked out to make way for luxury apartments. The buildings sure looked nice, I have to say. It seems like a really neat area to live.
