This cold snap has been unlike anything I've ever experienced. I realized the only thing I could compare it to was when I went winter camping for a class in high school and I was so delirous from cold that I didn't know how to get out of my sleeping bag in the mornings - I thought I was upside down in it and I would push and tug at the fabric like a psycho, drool frozen on my face.

I then also realized that only reason I can compare this cold snap with a winter camping trip is because that trip was the only other time in my life that I have actually been outside for extended periods in such frigid weather. Before moving to the city I'd just drive around in my warm car, only having to experience a few minutes arctic chill each day as I ran from the driveway into my house. But now, I have to walk to the subway and back, twice a day. I've seen people with scarves wrapped around their entire faces, only eyes peeking out. I even saw one man with ski goggles on, and just today I actually saw a man wearing a snowsuit! People can't even move on the subway they are so bundled up in coats and hats and scarves. Everyone just sits there looking like Randy from "A Christmas Story" in his overstuffed snowsuit. I have never seen a more miserable group of people than a bunch of commuters on a 8am train when it's 11 degrees out. I'm even wimping out on a Lilys show tonight because I just can't face the cold.
