Went to Kaiju Big Battel last night. It was a far cry from what I first saw years ago at the Museum School in Boston. They have definitely upped the scale. It's WWF for the indie-rock set, mercifully low on the gamer/fantasy role-playing/sci-fi vibe. It was highly entertaining and ridiculous and a good excuse to shout "Hooray!" and "Booooo" a lot. Although the highlight of night was The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players. I was completely captivaved by Rachel; I think she's 9 years old and she played the drums and sang and was so good and cute. I was just wowed that I was watching a father and daughter do this crazy slideshow performance art thing. The slides were hilarious. Their signature piece is a bunch of slides from a 1970's McDonalds corporation board meeting. One slide said something about "keeping hamburgers in front of the people". I totally recommend seeing these guys.
