Saw an advance screening of Dirty Pretty Things on Monday night (thanks Emily!) It was great; there was a fantastic twist towards the end that I don't think anybody saw coming, as there was an audible gasp in the audience and people started clapping. It was really neat. The only other time something like that happened to me in a movie theatre was when I saw the first Karate Kid, when he wins the karate championship at the end by doing that karate move where both his arms are up in the air, and he has one knee raised to his chest or something. Anyway, the crowd of ten-year olds went wild when he kicked the bad guy and won. I remember kids leaping out of their seats.

"They're talking in another language and it never ends...you're with them 100 blocks and they're on the phone the whole time. And they don't listen to where you want to go and they pass the street."Cabbies and cell phones.

TOASTER TALES

Two people were at the toaster the other day when I walked over and put my bagel on. I watched in amusement as both of them repeatedly put their food back on the toaster, as the food simply wasn't toasting because it was going so fast. Of course, I was doing it too because I seriously wanted to see how long this would go on. Finally, at the beginning of the FOURTH go-around, I announced: "I'm slowing this down," and cranked the knob. "Yeah, it's going pretty fast," one of them said. DUH!!!!
