Here's what Paul Begala wrote in his book It's Still the Economy, Stupid, at the end of the chapter detailing all of the current Bush administration's environmental atrocities:
"All the Ralph Nader-voting, Birkenstock-wearing, Green Party goofballs are probably gagging on their granola right now. And well they should be. Their stupid, self-absorbed, infantile infatuation with Nader allowed Bush to win and, if not to win, at least get close enough to steal it. Without Ralph Nader helping Bush, Al Gore would have handily won New Hampshire and Florida, which would have given him an electoral college victory of 295-242. And you would never have heard of chads, butterfly ballots or Katherine Harris.
More important, you would never have heard of the Bush-Cheney environmental wrecking crew. So, the next time you hear some smug lefty say there's not a dime's worth of difference between the two parties, ask him (or her) about arsenic in the water, toxins in the air, nuclear waste in Nevada - and on your highway. Ask about taxpayers paying to clean up Superfund sites instead of corporations, about plans to drill in the national wilderness, mine in the national parks, log in the national forests. Ask about protecting wetlands, preserving public lands, and fighting global climate change. Ask about special interest lobbyists and corporate fat cats making environmental and energy policy behind closed doors. Then ask her (or him) if they're going to play that little game of "Vote Green; Elect Republicans" again, because it's your life, your health, your air, your water and your planet they're playing with."
