Heasley Sits at Hoboken Show

by SERGIO GEORGINI

Hoboken, June 4 - Pale, enigmatic frontman and core member of The Lilys, Kurt Heasley, sat down on a wooden bar stool during the duration of the band's set at Maxwell's in Hoboken on Friday night. The decison to remain seated raised numerous questions about Heasley, such as heroin use, iron deficiancy, and who is the keyboard player in the short skirt? While somewhat sloppy, the set was overall pleasing, with a fine mix of early-era shoegazing Lilys and later-era 60's pop Lilys. A giant white teddy-bear adorned the stage while Heasley stared off into the stage lights delivering his signature Lilys vocals to a sparse crowd. I had three Bass in plastic cups. Then we took a cab home which was totally sketchy because there was NO METER and no cabbie ID card in the back seat. A spokesperson for the Lilys could not be reached.
