One more class to go and I'm free until Sept. 13! My vacation actually begins on Friday: my mom is coming down for the weekend to celebrate her birthday. It will be so fun to spend time in the city with her, wining and dining and Broadway and a little quiet reflection.
Vacation continues with Bumbershoot on Sept. 3 to see U.S.E. I can't wait!
And what would vacation be without vacation reading? I'm p.o'ed that the library would not let me renew Sons and Lovers for a second time - I only had 100 pages to go! Oh well. Good excuse to buy a book. Also on my summer reading list:
Nothing Feels Good: Punk Rock, Teenagers, and Emo by Andy Greenwald
The Creation Records Story by David Cavanagh. Virgin Books is tied for my #1 dream job, along with Cherry Red Music Books, so if anyone has an in there, let me know!!!
Bad Behavior by Mary Gaitskill.
Watched the DNC tonight. Cate Edwards looked great in her green go-go dress, W has decided that John Edwards looks like John Ritter, and we all cracked up at Elizabeth Edwards' revelation that her and John spend their wedding anniversaries at Wendy's. But what the hell is up with "Hope is on the Way!"? Lame! Kerry better come up something better than that. Clinton's "Send Me!" (in reference to Kerry, of course) was also pretty lame. J came up with "Wendy's is Open Late!" in replace of "Hope is On the Way!" Fast food is a much more rousing call to arms than hope.
Recommended Convention reading: "How to Love a Republican" by Steve Almond, in his short-story collection My Life in Heavy Metal.
