I read my first graphic novel a few months ago, Epileptic by David B. Overall I was engrossed with the story, but didn't really care for the illustrations. I'd read like five pages and realize I hadn't looked at the illustrations, so I'd go back and look at the illustrations, which I don't think is the way you're really supposed to enjoy a graphic novel. And the author's obsession with battles and his intricate drawings of battles didn't do anything for me. So it was a kind a disappointing foray into graphic novels.
However, I just picked up Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi and I love it. Highly recommended. She has a few other books which I am definitely going to read now.
