As of Friday, June 23, I will once again be a New Yorker! I have decided to take over G's lease when he moves to Providence for grad school. I'm so excited to be back in my 'hood! Not only that, I have a new job in Manhattan which I start in July. So, au revoir New Jersey! I think at this point the only thing that could get me back to Jersey City would be a Stone Roses reunion concert in Hamilton Park. While my time in JC for the most part has been thoroughly unenjoyable, there are some things I will miss about JC:
1) The light rail
2) LITM. Their wine and cheese wednesdays are a total steal: 3 flights of wine and a 3-cheese cheese board for $7!
3) The fact that you put your PATH card into the turnstile and it shoots out the top, rather than having to swipe it like in the NY subway.
4) Wild Fusion "Asian fusion" restaurant. There is a sushi chef there who looks like the Asian version of Ashton Kutcher, and G always lets me sit where I can see him!
5) The Merchant. It's an old renovated bank and looks really nice inside. They even kept the vault. G and I came here often for veggie burgers and beer.
6) Liberty State Park
7) Bar Majestic.
8) The giant statue in downtown JC of a soldier with a bayonnet going through his chest.
So, now I just need to find a roommate, and try to keep up with my homework in the midst of all this upheavel. I should have about three weeks in the apartment with G before he moves. Wah. Still can't believe he's moving away! I'm already signed up for Amtrak Guest Rewards as there is no doubt many train rides to Providence in my future.
