So. G is gone to Providence and I am very sad. The apartment feels totally deserted. I keep wandering around like I'm lost, expecting to hear him come up the stairs, or hear the cat batting around one of her jingle ball toys. I am dreading finding a new roommate. Although, looks like something has already moved in: water bugs.

A few nights ago I was getting up from my chair in front of the TV and saw one plodding across the carpet. I sprayed the fucker to death, at least I thought I did. It was still moving after being engulfed in a cloud of toxic bug spray, so I grabbed a jub of cleaning product from under the sink and smashed it. I still can't believe I didn't pass out. I'm so totally bug phobic. Although I'm still constantly looking for them around every corner. I went to Home Depot and got some ultrasonic bug repellent things and plugged them in all over the place. I also got a stopper for the bathtub and am keeping the sink stopped. And I got a giant can of Raid - it's in the living room, at the ready. I really need to relax about it, but it was so big and gross and...ugggghhh. Not to mention there was one in the bedroom a few weeks ago, which G and the cat tag teamed, the dears. But no boyfriend or pet to rely on now! I remember being grossed out about tiny sugar ants in the kitchen of one of my previous apartments. Ha! What I wouldn't give to trade water bugs for sugar ants!

I just spent my morning smushing teeny little ants which were crawling all over the kitchen counter....are those sugar ants? I am not bug phobic at all so I would take one or two big ugly bugs then 30 plus swarming ants! I can't wait till I move out of this place!

On a side note...I'm sorry you are without G. :(

ctale: I guess there are ants that are attracted to grease, and ones that are attracted to sugar. I don't think we ever figured out exactly what ours were, but nothing we tried seemed to keep them away.
jj: encouraging news! G took his cat, so maybe it was the cat's water they were trying to get into? Maybe now that there's no more water out that will make a difference. I hope so!!

"Don't be sorry. Just be Wally."

I am sorry to hear you are lonely and also of your bug issues. I was deathly afraid of bugs when I was little, especially moths, and I seem to have grown out of it, except for silverfish and centipedes, aaaaaaaaaaaaa!

And as I was just typing that, another g-d carpenter ant was crawling up my leg. So I squished him. Bastard!
