Bob's Grinding Service pulled up in front of my apartment today! He used to park in front of G's old apartment a few blocks away, but I have never seen him near my apartment, so I was really excited when I heard his unmistakable old-fashioned bell ring. $8 and I walked away with a knife as good as new, which just that morning could barely cut through a red pepper. Thanks Bob! A truck that drives around sharpening knives (and lawnmowers!) has to be one of the coolest things I've encountered while living in NYC. It's so weirdly old-fashioned! Maybe there is someone around here who delivers glass bottles of milk, too!

Should that be legal in NYC? I mean in Boston thank goodness it's probably not for obvious reasons. lol! I don't think I've ever heard of such a thing before!
I went to Turkey as an exchange student, and gypsies on a horse drawn ramshackle carriage would roll through the parking lot of the giant apartment complexes singing a song that meant, "Bring your old worn out pots down and we'll patch the holes."
Then the gypsies would park their horse, build a fire, and repair worn out pots and pans.
That was weird.
I think it might kill people in the US to repair an old pot or pan. Why repair when you have Target?
