G and I went up to Stowe, VT for the weekend to see my sister. We stayed with her at the house where she does caretaking (she lives in the apartment above the garage). This was the view from our bedroom window:

I've spent a fair bit of time in Vermont and I absolutely love it up there, but every time I've visited I've always been like "I could never live out here, it's so isolated, where do people work etc. etc." But after this trip, I was thinking to myself "hmmm...it might not be so bad living in Vermont!" I think it was the total peace and quiet at night that got me. I had the best sleep I've had in months on Friday night. It was so dark and still and relaxing. Plus Stowe is only two hours from Montreal. Two hours! I could definitely deal with being in such close proximity to such a world-class city. That certainly relieves the feeling of isolation. But then again...why not go straight for Montreal? Who knows.

Anyway, my sister's boyfriend is the brewer for The Shed and he generously gave us a tour of the brewery down below the restaurant. Pretty amazing. And of course we had to try their beer sampler, which they call a "Ski":

So delicious! My favorite was the "Mountain Ale," which I believe is the second one from the right. I even liked the stout, and I never drink stouts!

This was the rest stop in Randolph, VT:
