I would like to take a moment to expound on the topic of email petitions, many of which I have been receiving of late. They are mostly anti-war, anti-bush screeds that ask you to "sign", then forward on to more people. Well, I'd like to ask anybody who has been sending me these to please stop, as I think they are naive and utterly useless.
Do you think Bush gives a shit about a fucking email petition? How do you know he even SEES it? He doesn't care what we think; he wasn't even ELECTED by us! He went ahead with his war despite the world-wide outcry. If he's not going to listen to France, he's certainly not going to take into consideration a phantom email petition.
Rather than signing email petitons and sending them off into cyberspace, I think we need to direct our attention at making sure Bush does not get reelected. We need to put our energy towards supporting the Democratic party. This website lists all the people who are hoping to become the Democratic Presidential nominee for 2004. Don't waste your time with email petitions; do whatever you can to support the Democratic party if you really want to enact some change (If you are attached to email activism, you can become a Democratic Party "eCaptain" on the Dem party website).
Thank you.
