Today I went to the Sanrio store in Times Square. I filled out a survey regarding some character that is apparently really popular in Japan, and they wanted to see if it was appealing to Americans. They had a little display set up with this pink, furry chichuaua dog character thing that wasn't very cute. I asked the girl what the name of the character was, and she was like, oh, we don't remember, it's Japanese and nobody could pronounce it. I got a Hello Kitty eraser as my gift for filling out the survey.

Last night G and I wintessed a heist at Blockbuster. We had just paid for our movie ("Hollywood Ending"), and this guy suddenly comes right up behind me, holding a DVD case in his hand, saying "You got this? Is this in?" and the alarm was going off because he had walked through detector with it. So the cashier is like "It's in there!" and the guy goes "Oh, I don't want it," leaves it on the counter, and proceeds to exit the store, obviously having taken something. The two cashiers were shouting after him to come back and to "walk back through!" but the guy just took off. So one of the cashiers takes off after him down the sidewalk, shouting at him to come back, but of course the guy just kept walking. The cashier finally gave up and headed back towards the store. Some guy getting out of his car asked the cashier what happened, and he was like "He stole something and I can't touch him!" So Blockbuster must have some policy where employees can't touch customers or something. I felt really bad for the cashier. If that had been some mom and pop video store there would have been a brawl or something. I can't believe this guy decided to make his move right behind me. Being a customer, I could have touched him and tried to intercept the whole thing, but obviously I was the exact kind of person some crook would want to bust into action on: small with absolutely no upper body strength whatsoever. Sly, crafty folk, those petty criminals.

While I was holed up watching Food Network last weekend, I caught an episode of "Barefoot Contessa" where she makes margaritas. It was so fun to make this; I had never made margaritas without a mix before. I don't think I could ever go back to a mix after actually juicing five limes. It made the lovliest shade of green ever. I totally recommend this recipe.

Something really fun that happens sometimes when you actually sit at the bar, at a bar, is that the bartender will give you a little extra of a drink he/she makes, to sample. That happened tonight; the bartender gave us a sample of a mango martini. It was so delicious! Maybe this is some ploy to get you to drink more or whatever, but regardless, it was delicious. It wasn't frozen, but here is a recipe.
