Dan Brown is being sued for copyright infringement in London. The plaintiffs allege that Brown "appropriated their ideas and themes" in The Da Vinci Code. Now, correct me if I'm wrong here, but ideas are not copyrightable - only the expression of ideas. Is this not the case in UK law?
(I left off the "e" on "code" at first by accident, although now that I think about it I really wish somebody would write "The Da Vinci Cod." Ha!)

You're correct, though I can't speak for UK law. Keep in mind that news reports on copyright (and trademark) claims are notoriously inaccurate. However, from reading the article is does sound like the plaintiffs may be claiming that Brown copied sentences from their book. Something about highlighted portions of one book showing up in the other. We'll just have to read the complaint itself to find out for certain.
