Check out this new radiation warning symbol from the International Atomic Energy Agency. What a mess! Does radiation smell? Why is there an arrow to highlight the fact the person is running? It's pretty obvious from the position of the arms and legs. Unless it was to emphasize that a person is to run away from radiation, not run in place, or dance around it.

So this is the product of a five-year project conducted in 11 countries, employing various "human factor experts," graphic designers, and radiation experts, then tested on 1,650 individuals? Good grief. I can't imagine the bureaucracy involved in a project like this. They should have just had a call for entries from the major graphic design schools. And 21 years after Chernobyl? Better late than never, right?
