Two more weeks until Christmas vacation. Yay!

In lieu of presents for my family this year, I decided to make "giving bags" for the Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island "Holiday Giving Bag Program." I bought all the toiletry stuff and G got the gloves and slippers. I think I might do this every year now and save gift buying for birthdays only. I mean, my family has everything we need - it feels good to buy stuff for people who don't have everything they need!

In other news, my department had a holiday cocktail party at a place called Chardonnay's in Seekonk, MA on Friday. Since we get out at 1pm, we were all over there by 2pm, which was cool. I had a tiny, single-serve bottle of Prosecco and was out of there by 3:45pm. I wanted to hit the road before it got dark since I had no idea where the eff I was and wasn't in the mood for getting lost since it was sleeting out. By the grace of God I made it through the maze of streets known as East Providence and made it home just fine.

We have a winter weather advisory here for sleet, snow and freezing rain from 5pm to 9am tomorrow. Great. It certainly sucked to have to walk through crap like that to the subway to get to work, but it's just as crappy to have to clear off your car and drive through it to get to work. There's really no way around it: commuting just sucks!
