Right now I'm reading the ever-so-slightly tabloid-ish "American Son: A Portrait of John F. Kennedy, Jr." by Richard Blow. This is truly a quick read, and totally engaging in a "Page 6" kind of way.
Next on the book list is "Unmarried to Each Other. This is part of the review from Bust Magazine, written by Caroline Tiger: "After all, what is marriage but a legal contract, which, once signed, puts you in cahoots with a government that dictates who can and can't get married? Though marriage is off-limits to same-sex partners, prisoners, and some of the mentally disabled, it's still the only way to legitimize a relationship in our society's eyes..." Which is one of my huge misgivings about marriage, simply "legalizing" your love for another person. And the fact that same-sex couples can't even get married is just an absolute disgrace and I hate to think I'm partaking in something that fosters such blatant discrimination.
Oh, and I now have to read "Shopgirl" by Steve Martin as I just discovered it's being made into a movie starring Claire Danes and Jimmy Fallon.
