An email address has been set up if you have recommendations to make about the future of the Old Man (thanks for the link Eric). Governor Benson has created a task force to deal with the issue as well. As the article notes, conservation-minded people are "noticeably absent" from the group. If you don't want to see a fiberglass Old Man head with a cell-phone tower sticking out of it, use the email and "speak" up (oldman@newhampshire.gov). I really can't bear the thought of them building anything in that spot.

Cartoonist Rick Meyerowitz has some ideas on how to replace the Old Man on the OP/ED page of todays New York Times. I like the "Guggenheim New Hampshire (designed by Frank Gehry)," and "A Place for New Yorkers to Smoke in Peace."
