I was psyched to catch the Bill O'Reilly/Al Franken showdown at this year's Book Expo America on Book TV today. Bill O'Reilly was a total sourpuss; Al Franken had the perfect mix of intelligence and humour and really had the upper hand throughout the discussion. It was great to see someone put that grandstanding buffoon O'Reilly in his place for once. He's such a big baby when he's not on his own turf, ie "The No-Spin Zone." He just walked off the stage without even shaking Franken's hand. I am totally going to buy Franken's new book now. He really impressed me. G commented that that was probably the most exciting thing we'll ever see on Book TV, and I had to agree.

Reigning champ Kobayashi retains his "Mustard Belt" at the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest at Coney Island. NY1 showed the contestants weighing in in front of City Hall yesterday while a person in a hotdog costume and another person in a mustard bottle costume looked on. A doctor looked into their mouths too. Looking for an illegal hot dog chute perhaps?
