When we got home we just automatically lit candles, even though we had MagLites. I love MagLites. They are ergonomically pleasing and bright as hell. As soon as we had all the candles lit, we collapsed into bed and realized we really didn't need candles lit as we were about to fall asleep in two minutes. I just think it's funny that it was such an automatic thing to do: power out/light candles. I think I want to invest in a battery-powered lantern at some point rather than leave candles all over the house.

I also have to say my sister Carlotta bought me this keychain light last year for Christmas, and it totally saved the day. We used it to get down the stairwell from George's office, on the dark sidewalks, and up our stairwell to our apartment. It's really tiny, but we were amazed at how bright it was. It comes in all sorts of colors and the design is great. I totally recommend buying one of these.
