Went to the Small Press Book Fair today. What a waste. A bunch of weirdos with pamphlets. Although, a couple tables had some really beautiful hand-made and letterpressed books. I have to admit, I was primarily going in hopes of getting a glimpse of Johnny Temple at the Akashic table, but no luck. He is so on my heroes list with that resume.

Today was the first day my bare arms have seen the sun in about six months. They are blinding white.

I love how almost every Saturday when the F train runs on the A line from W4 St. to Jay St. in Brooklyn there are the inevitable people who start to freak out and ask everyone around them "Is this the F train? What's the next stop? Is it going to Brooklyn?" despite the service change posters all over the place and the conductor announcing it at every other stop. Today some guy sat next to me and was like "EWWW! Who was sittin' here? This seat is burnin'!" and he flattened his duffel bag out and sat on it! I totally relate. When I sit down on the train and seat is all warm from the previous person it grosses me out.

So I bought Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office: 101 Unconscious Mistakes Women Make That Sabotage Their Careers by Lois P. Frankel, Ph.D. Mistake 78 is "Wearing Inappropriate Makeup", and she then goes on to suggest: "Go to a Mary Kay or Avon consultant for helpful makeup hints." Mary Kay? Avon? And this book was published in 2004? I think someone needs to inform Dr. Frankel it's all about the gay guy at Sephora helping you with your makeup these days.

Watch Dennis Miller be a total dick to Eric Alterman here. Alterman is the author of The Book on Bush: How George W. (Mis)Leads America and What Liberal Media? (Link from This Modern World.)

Elliot Smith's recording studio is for sale. (Scroll down a bit).
