It found me! My 2004 summerfuntime music! Every summer a soundtrack finds me - I don't consciously choose it, it chooses me and and I love waiting for it to happen because I know it will be something fun and glorious, like a little angel music messenger from heaven, and this year it's United State of Electronica (thanks Eric!). This is perfect driving-along-the-coast-with-your-friends-sea-air-kissing-your-face music. I adore "Emerald City", and hopefully I will get out to the Emerald City to see these folks because I think it would be one of the funnest shows ever. The whole disc is just so happy and summery. Don't let the vocoder scare you; I just realized it sounds like when you sing into a fan!

I'm trying to fight off the post-vacation blues right now as I sit in my perpetually 80-degree bedroom covered in a film of sweat, trying not to use the airconditioner until I absolutely have to. I spent the last four days on a beautiful little lake in NH with my friends eating and drinking and laughing and swimming and dancing, playing games and watching movies. I'm so sad to be gone. I miss the sound of the loons and the starry sky, and the pinched-up faces of my friends as they try to drink the margaritas I improvised without triple sec or margarita mix!!
