The last couple of weeks have been a harried, emotional tailspin. I found a new apartment, packed, and moved all while trying to keep up with my school work and overtime projects. I now look forward to my life returning to normal as I settle in and try to figure out where I packed all my extension cords.
What a difference six blocks makes. I now have the Pennsylvania Railroad Harsimus Stem Embankment running through my backyard. It's on the NJ State Register of Historic Places, and the only "development" that seems to be in its future is that of "passive open space," a transformation that probably won't happen while I'm living there, so looks like a nice, quiet summer (I hope!). I can't wait to plant flowers and sit on the tiny porch when it gets warm out.
And seems like I've found myself some pretty cool landlords (who live in the building as well): this is my landlord Stephen's label and band, and my other landlord is busy transforming her online tea shop into a bricks and morter shop in downtown JC. My actual roommate is a working artist and art professor. Everyone seems really nice; I look forward to hanging out with them. I was especially pleased to find out that baked goods are often left on the stairwell for sharing!
