Friday G and I had dinner at Buddy's on Greenwich Ave. (that's G's Christmas tree). We snagged a window seat, where we were able to watch a steady stream of unsuspecting pedestrians charge feet-first into a slushy, muddy ankle-deep, curbside puddle. These obstacles are a common site in the city after a snowstorm. The slush and snow and ice collects around the curb, totally disrupting the pedestrian flow, forcing people into the street to make a wide arc around the mess. Or, in the case of this puddle, to try and charge right through it like idiots. We cozied up with our happy-hour margaritas and laughed and laughed as person after person just totally soaked themselves. Our waiter and the guy eating behind us were enjoying the show as well, and we were hootin' and hollerin' every time somebody approached the puddle trap. We tried waving our arms and shouting "NO! NO!" a couple times, but these busy city folks were just totally unaware, gabbing away on their cellphones or spaced out on their iPods. Oh man it was hilarious!

Saturday night we had S and J and over to watch SNL and make Christmas crafts. We poked cloves into oranges, which is my favorite craft - it looks pretty and smells nice to boot! I was terrible at making snowflakes however. They were all just big squares with holes cut out. We ended up making a little diorama snow-scene, which kind of reminds me of those Rankin and Bass Christmas specials. This is my favorite shot.

The brown disc is a carmelized lemon slice - I thought it looked like a tree stump or something. It actually looks more like a crash-landed flying saucer. And that red spot behind the tree is supposed to be a little fox. In terms of SNL, the Tony Bennet Show skit, with Alec Baldwin as Tony Bennet interviewing Daryl Hammond as Dick Cheney, was the funniest thing I have seen on that show all year, hands down.

I'm treating myself to a Sunday night in Brooklyn as a final weekend hurrah. Usually I shlep back to JC on the slow weekend trains, but since I don't have any school work to do I'm gonna stay put. G is making brownies, I'm glued to Food Network, and we're going out for dinner later. Sounds like a good Sunday to me!
