When I got the word that Yo La Tengo would indeed be doing their Hannukah shows at Maxwell's this year I pounced, as they sell out like hotcakes. As the calendar would have it, Hannukah falls during the week of Christmas and goes through New Years Eve, so I snatched up four tickets for the New Years Eve show - I'm so excited! And Contagious and Mythias will be coming down for the show too. Yeah!
I saw one of their Hannukah shows last year and it was an absolute blast. If I wasn't going to be home in NH that week I would have gotten myself a ticket for another night too. Here's a lineup from their 2002 shows. Can't find a more recent one.
G and I saw the Schiele show at the Neue Galerie. Stunning. The gallery is actually a townhouse, so it's like you're wandering around somebody's apartment looking at art. The show was two floors and spanned his entire career. It was totally manageable however, albeit the place was packed. As G commented on our way out: "Makes you realize how few people in this world can actually draw." It was a little unnerving to read that he died of Spanish Influenza, with all this talk of avian flu going around. Gulp.
This just in: Found this recap of the YLT Hannukah show I went to last year. Oswalt truly brought the house down - the place was roaring.

Don't you mean 'tweet' instead of 'gulp'! I cannot believe the govt after being terrified into getting a 'swine flu' shot because I had young children at home. My left arm has never been the same!!!
