On Saturday the Queen Mary 2 was docked in Red Hook, so G and I took a stroll down to check it out.

As you can see, Red Hook is an industrial wasteland, so it was quite a site to look down these barren streets and see the largest cruise ship in the world. In a word, it was magnificent. There were cops everywhere, at least two on each corner for about ten blocks into Red Hook.

The neighborhood was abuzz with sightseers - people were everywhere, so I'm not sure how I managed a shot without a single person in it. A steady stream of cabs, livery cars, and stretch limos were also on hand, picking up passengers to take them into the city. Red Hook is never abuzz - it's a very sleepy, isolated part of Brooklyn, so everything seemed quite surreal.

Afterwards we stopped into Baked for a piece of sweet and salty chocolate cake. I felt like the QM2 when we left...
