Had a great visit with my mom and sister, despite the fact I had a nasty head cold the entire time. I'd like to give a shout-out to Vicks Sinex nasal spray, for making my entire visit with them possible. That stuff is awesome! Thanks Vicks!

A and I spent an entire afternoon at The Met, where we saw this sculpture...

...and this guy painting.

Random street scene.

We also went to
M&M's World, which sold tons of crappy M&M merch plus M&M's in every color imaginable for $10.00 a pound. But we got our picture taken with "Red," which was cool. Here's Red with an M&M's World employee.

More Red.

Giant red M&M cushion.

I Love M&M New York.

But where it was REALLY happenin' was at the
Hershey's Times Square Store, directly across the street from M&M's World. They had tons of candy. I was powerless to resist. I bought a bag of dark chocolate Hershey Kisses (which are much better than dark chocolate M&M's - sorry Red!), a bag of caramel-filled Hershey Kisses, a bag of "Nut Lovers" Hershey miniatures, and a package of
chocolate-flavored Bubble Yum, which my mom took a particular liking to.

The highlight of the Hershey store was undoubtedly these Japanese Hershey bars with green tea filling. I was really hoping I wouldn't like them, but they are so delicious I had to squirt dish soap all over one of them to keep from eating the whole thing. They have nowhere near as much filling as depicted, but they are still good. This will make a fine addition to my chocolate bar wrapper collection!
Thanks to my mom's good friend K, we also got to see some plays:
Bill W. and Dr. Bob, about the founding of AA, and
Mamma Mia!, a musical developed around a bunch of ABBA songs. Going to Broadway is always such a treat for me, so I'm really glad to have been given the chance. Thanks K! The acting in Bill W. was amazing, especially the man who played Dr. Bob (the guy on the right in pic), and Mamma Mia! was sweet and funny, some nice light-hearted fare on a cold winter's day.
I'm bummed the visit is over, and bummed to see my family go - it was so much fun to see them and hang out and be a tourist in my own city for a few days! Tomorrow it's back to the commute, the inbox, the emails...at least I have a pound of dark chocolate Hershey Kisses to get me through!
