So I think I'm going to go under the laser and get PRK. I got a recommendation for a doctor by three friends of a co-worker who all had the surgery with him and had a good experience. I had the consultation last night, which was pretty funny. His big claim to fame is having done Lasik on sports stars like Bernie Williams and Jason Giambi (you get autographed prints in your information folder!), and in the consultation rooms there was a giant autographed photo of a race car zooming around a track that said "Thanks Dr. [name]!" You couldn't even tell who autographed it! I think he did it himself. Ha!

When he first walked in he's like "Nice glasses!" Then he says "You're going to get denied surgery just for having nice glasses!" And then he looks at my chart, looks at me, looks at the chart, and says "33? You look much younger! But I bet you get that all the time!" Oh stop! You're getting my business, don't worry!

He says I should I have PRK instead of Lasik because I have big pupils, which is fine by me: it means no cutting a flap on my eyeball and then risking the complications that come with the flap. But the recovery period is longer, like two or three weeks, whereas with Lasik it's like one or two days, and I can only get one eye done at a time. But I can still go to work and everything, it's just going to be a little uncomfortable. I'm a little nervous only because the first day I can schedule the appointment is on Friday, July 13! Ack!

Anyone had PRK done? Do tell!
