Week two of the new job is now over. I'm getting a little more acclimated to the office, which is making things easier, and I'm no longer a nervous wreck driving there, which is making things a lot easier!

I'm not adjusting well to the hours though: 7:45am-5pm with a half-hour lunch Monday - Thursday, then 7:45am-12:45pm on Friday. Half-hour lunch? You can't run errands or do anything with a half hour! I could go get the car washed, go to the bank, do a little shopping with an hour, but not a half hour. I think this whole year-round "summer Fridays" thing is a sham. They really pushed that as being a big perk, too. What good is getting out early on a Friday when you have to fill it with the errands you didn't have time for during the week? I'm an early riser anyway so getting there early is no problem, but having to stay until 5pm is what is exhausting me. I'm used to going home around 3:45-4pm. It leaves little time for going to the gym in the evening, which really bothers me since I don't like being at the gym late.

I did finally join the gym, by the way, which I think is going to help me starting feeling better and sleeping better. I haven't worked out or done pilates in over a month and I feel like crap.

Oh, and did I mention I'm no longer white-knuckled driving to the grocery store? Progress! What freedom taking a car to the grocery store! I actually bought a three-pack of paper towels the other day because guess what? I didn't have to carry them home! I threw them in the back seat of the car! Yay!

Cripes! How do you even have time to eat lunch in a half hour? No sooner you heat up your lunch and sit down to eat and you need to be back to work again! They give us a choice of "summer schedule" here. We can work 4-10 hour days if we wish, but are not required to. I decided not to because I need an hour to digest and the rest of the world is working on a Friday afternoon anyway! Working a 9 hour day is pretty tough. I'd be very grumpy by 5pm. My brain literally, shuts down at around 4pm.
