I haven't been writing here much lately because ever since I started my new job my eyes have been killing me. The combination of being glued to my computer screen all day plus the fluorescent lighting in my office is really causing a lot of eyestrain, so I'm trying to reduce my computer time at home to give my eyes a break. It seems to be working a bit.

I also think something funky may be going on with the laser surgery I had in my left eye in July. I'm having a hard time reading which is really freaking me out. I went to the eye doctor a couple of weeks ago and he said everything looked fine. Then I had my eyes checked at work and for distance I was 20/20 but for up close I was only 20/40. I've been kind of squinting when I read magazines and books and even sometimes on the computer. I suspect the vision in my left eye is getting better and surpassing the vision in my right eye, which is causing the discrepancy in my eyesight.

So, I'm trying to give my eyes a break. Hopefully I can get my right eye done in the very near future and be done with this nonsense! The only thing I can't figure out is how I am going to function the two weeks before the surgery when I can't wear my contact in my right eye! This is the total drawback of PRK: only being able to get one eye done at a time. G is so busy with school I don't know how I'm going to coordinate him driving me to work every day for two weeks, let alone WORKING with only one eye. UG. I'm pretty sure I can't rely on coworkers because everyone has kids and they already have pretty tight schedules as it is. I suppose I ought to check to see if there is any kind of company carpooling program.

In better news, I've registered to take French lessons beginning in January at the French American School of Rhode Island. They need five people to open the class, so I have my fingers crossed. They are having a Marche de Noel on Saturday which sounds really fun.
